Eyes On The Prize

2023

In the wilds of the African savanna, it is the female lion that does all of the hunting for her pride – they are perfectly adapted hunting machines, and their instincts point towards providing for and protecting their pride.

Despite the importance of the lioness, and their unquestionable beauty, I have been guilty of neglecting them – my lion work has a big skew towards the males. I wanted to try and capture the real queen of Africa, doing what she does best -focused, determined and with her eyes on the prize.
I am happy with the final result – we got lucky with the sun illuminating the grass behind her, it makes for the ideal backdrop to this feisty lady, and ensures the focus is on her eyes, right where it should be.
