They are incredible creatures with faces full of so much character, and so much intelligence. It&#8217;s a personal goal for this year, to explore these fascinating creatures in as much depth as possible.<\/p>\n<p>I started the project in the Middle Atlas Mountains, home to the incredible Barbary Macaque, and North Africa&#8217;s highest waterfalls. These primates are found exclusively in the heights of Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco, and their numbers are decreasing &#8211; once strong populations are now fragmented, and they are considered endangered &#8211; to find them was a great privilege.<\/p>\n<p>I had been dreaming of this shoot for sometime &#8211; my partner and my family knew of my dream to photograph a macaque in-front of the famous falls, but I knew it would be hit and miss. We completed a rigorous trek to reach the monkey&#8217;s habitat, and were lucky to find a small troop at the top, lead by this dominant alpha male.<\/p>\n<p>Exhausted from the trek, I had a rest and bided my time &#8211; sure enough he moved into position and sat on the edge of the cliff. I had my opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>It was my first big moment of 2025, and it was even more special having my partner by my side.
