After the Storm
£250.00 – £1,150.00Price range: £250.00 through £1,150.002026
Rain Over Still Water
£250.00 – £1,150.00Price range: £250.00 through £1,150.002026
I have photographed flamingos for many years, drawn again and again to their elegance, colour, and quiet presence. Yet this moment offered something entirely new — a flamingo moving through rain-darkened water, something I had long hoped for but never experienced.
The rain transformed a familiar subject into something more introspective and atmospheric, revealing a quieter side of a bird I have spent years observing through my lens, and love so deeply.
It was a beautiful experience – just me, the birds, and my camera, at the mercy of the weather.
Plumage
£250.00 – £750.00Price range: £250.00 through £750.002026
An explosion of colour fills the frame—coral, peach, and soft ember tones layered feather upon feather, each strand catching the light as if lit from within. Against the deep black backdrop, the flamingo’s body becomes pure presence: sculptural, luminous, and almost unreal in its intensity.
The feathers are the story here. Loose, flowing, and impossibly intricate, they dissolve the boundary between form and movement. What looks soft at a distance reveals structure up close—barbs, curves, and subtle gradients working together in a quiet act of excess. Beauty, unapologetically abundant.
I began photographing flamingos in 2016, initially drawn in by their colour alone. That attraction quickly deepened into something closer to obsession. The more I worked with them, the more I realized how endlessly variable they are, how light transforms them, how their feathers seem to carry atmosphere as much as hue.
Ten years on, I am still working with flamingos, returning to this visual language of bright colour set against black. It has become a trademark over the years—not to isolate the bird, but to let the plumage speak fully, loudly, and without distraction. This image is less about a flamingo, and more about colour discovering its own voice.
Bad Feather Day
£250.00 – £1,150.00Price range: £250.00 through £1,150.002026
I began photographing flamingos in 2016, drawn in at first by their color and choreography. What started as curiosity quietly turned into obsession—the more time I spent with them, the more personality slipped through the symmetry, and the more these small, awkward moments began to matter.
Ten years on, I am still working with flamingos, still looking for expressions like this: moments where the myth of grace gives way to something stubborn, human, and wonderfully imperfect. The feather stays. The mood stays. And so do I.
The First Balance
£250.00 – £1,150.00Price range: £250.00 through £1,150.002025
In a world of towering legs and fading pink plumage, the little one stands—downy, uncertain, yet unyielding. A single leg cradles the weight of its fragile body, a first rehearsal of the grace it has yet to master. Around it, echoes of elegance whisper from older wings, reminding it of the fire it will one day wear.
Still, the chick trembles with possibility, clothed in soft gray, carrying within it a secret flame waiting to break through. Each wobble, each breath, is the sound of becoming.
There is beauty not only in the finished form, but in the unsteady beginnings—the courage to rise, to balance, to belong among giants. In this moment of quiet defiance, the chick claims its place beneath the sky, a promise wrapped in fluff: one day, it too will stand tall in shades of fire.
Ripples Of Elegance
£250.00 – £1,150.00Price range: £250.00 through £1,150.002025
I have spoken often about my diagnosis of autism, and how living in such a noisy world is a profound challenge at times – my photography has become somewhat of an escape from that challenge, and my black-and-white style serves as a peaceful escape from the noise that surrounds me.
I love the contrast between elegant whites and strong, deep blacks, and the swan is a perfect species for this style, the elegance of their white feathers is unrivalled, they are one Britain’s most beautiful creatures. I really wanted to play on that contrast when photographing them in early 2025.
I quickly noticed this thicket of trees on the opposite side of the lake – I knew this would provide a beautiful, deep black background if I got down to water-level and bided my time. The resulting photograph is better than I could have ever imagined, it’s a very satisfying photograph for me, and a new favourite.
Amongst The Morning Mist
£250.00 – £1,150.00Price range: £250.00 through £1,150.002025
It has been about six years since I released a photograph of a swan – they are breathtakingly beautiful birds, but they can also be aggressive, and they are probably one of the most photographed birds. I admit that they are one of my favourite native species, and I always get excited when I spot one… it was about time I revisited them with my camera.
We were treated to some very favourable conditions earlier this year, the winter light was magical, and recent temperatures had meant it was likely there would be some level of mist if we got down to the waters edge early enough.
The photograph was in the bag before breakfast, it was a very early and chilly start, but we warmed up with some good company and some good coffee shortly after. Sometimes you have to seize moment.
Silent Serenity
£250.00 – £1,150.00Price range: £250.00 through £1,150.002024
The horse project taught me many things, about myself, about horses, and about photography. One of the key takeaways for me was that there are always new ways to see animals, and new photographs to make, and this has led to reinvigorated passion for my flamingo series.
I first photographed these birds about seven years ago, for what was originally a one-year project. Here I am, about to enter 2025, still adding to the series, and with no plans to stop anytime soon.
I love this frame – it has a such a peaceful feeling to it. They can be feisty subjects, but there is a silent serenity when they settle down, on one leg, for a well-earned sleep.
My Crown
£250.00 – £1,150.00Price range: £250.00 through £1,150.002024
Every time I see an African crowned crane I am immediately transported back to my childhood — growing up with autism meant I was drawn to anything that was unusual — weather that be the bright pink of the flamingo, or the feathered crown of these birds. Every time I saw them I would announce “It’s the funny haircut birds”.
I have long desired to capture a strong portrait of these most unusual birds, as an ode to the excitement they gave me as a child.
The light hit perfectly on this day, illuminating that fascinating crown, they do indeed have a funny haircut!
