Cloaked In Stripes

Price range: £250.00 through £1,150.00

2025

My new primate series simply had to include a ring-tailed lemur or two – they are so iconic, and instantly recognisable.

When I plan a new photograph, I always begin with the key characteristics of the species in question – when a person thinks of the ring-tailed lemur, they instantly think of their stripy tails and large, emotional eyes. The eyes and the tail would therefore be the focal point of the photograph I was trying to create.

Their striking tails act as a vital tool to help them balance whilst moving through the heights of the Madagascan jungle, as a communication tool when operating in a troop of up to thirty individuals, and as a bit of a safety blanket when they need to keep warm, or rest.

I got low and waited for moment – I do this often in the field, because I like to shoot from a low angle; it is not comfortable, and often it can be a long job… but not when lemurs are involved. They are constantly up to something, it was an entertaining morning.

I love the emotion and the sense fragility in this photograph.

It’s Been A Long Day

Price range: £250.00 through £1,150.00

2021

I like the emotional side of the chimp and how similar they are to humans. That’s something I try to get in my work, because people never got to know me as a child, they just heard I had autism and ran a mile. I’m trying to do the same with animals, to get people to look deeper than just what they look like. Trying to get the emotional connection in my work is important.

Guardian of the Falls

Price range: £250.00 through £1,150.00

2025

The completion of the Wild Horse project has resulted in time to explore other species, and I have long wanted to explore the world of primates in more depth. They are incredible creatures with faces full of so much character, and so much intelligence. It’s a personal goal for this year, to explore these fascinating creatures in as much depth as possible.

I started the project in the Middle Atlas Mountains, home to the incredible Barbary Macaque, and North Africa’s highest waterfalls. These primates are found exclusively in the heights of Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco, and their numbers are decreasing – once strong populations are now fragmented, and they are considered endangered – to find them was a great privilege.

I had been dreaming of this shoot for sometime – my partner and my family knew of my dream to photograph a macaque in-front of the famous falls, but I knew it would be hit and miss. We completed a rigorous trek to reach the monkey’s habitat, and were lucky to find a small troop at the top, lead by this dominant alpha male.

Exhausted from the trek, I had a rest and bided my time – sure enough he moved into position and sat on the edge of the cliff. I had my opportunity.

It was my first big moment of 2025, and it was even more special having my partner by my side. It’s a moment in time that I will never forget.

Shivers

Price range: £250.00 through £1,150.00

2025

I think this was one of the easiest photographs that I have ever titled – I had shivers down my spine the moment I pressed the shutter, and I still get shivers when I look at the photograph now.

There is an intensity in those eyes that is not to be underestimated. The tail, and the fact he is looking past me and my camera only add to the intensity of the frame.

He was on a mission that day, and nothing was going to get in his way, that much was clear.

Wild & Whiskered

Price range: £250.00 through £1,150.00

2025

I have been fortunate to photograph many species during my career, but the cheetah, which has always featured high on my subject wish list, had always eluded me, until late 2024 when I had a very special opportunity to work with the species for the first time. In my opinion, they are one of the most graceful, beautiful creatures to roam our planet, and I felt the pressure to do their beauty justice.

As well as being one of the most beautiful creatures, they are also incredibly sensitive and fine-tuned into their environment. Move too quickly and you’ll photograph nothing more than their back-end disappearing into the distance at up to 70mph! Photographing them requires patience and carefully thought out behaviour.

It’s impossible to ignore their eyes, they have an intense gaze—sharp, calculating, wild and almost otherworldly. That was what it was all about for me – capturing the intense emotion and depth in those large eyes, and the iconic tear-drop that falls from them.

Silent Serenity

Price range: £250.00 through £1,150.00

2024

The horse project taught me many things, about myself, about horses, and about photography. One of the key takeaways for me was that there are always new ways to see animals, and new photographs to make, and this has led to reinvigorated passion for my flamingo series.

I first photographed these birds about seven years ago, for what was originally a one-year project. Here I am, about to enter 2025, still adding to the series, and with no plans to stop anytime soon.

I love this frame – it has a such a peaceful feeling to it. They can be feisty subjects, but there is a silent serenity when they settle down, on one leg, for a well-earned sleep.

Sands Of Time

Price range: £250.00 through £1,150.00

2024

In my many years of working with the world’s wildlife, I have always been fascinated by the incredible colours, patterns and textures found in our natural world. Everywhere you look, there is something so incredibly beautiful.

When I was sat atop the coastal dunes of Norfolk in December, I was drawn to a couple of mothers whose faces were covered in sand, it’s a texture I’ve never photographed before. I dedicated a decent amount of time to these two cows – it’s difficult to get an angle on those dunes, and then you have to wait for the animal to give you an opportunity.

I think ‘Sands Of Time’ is the perfect title for this multi-generational portrait.

A Kiss On The Coast

Price range: £250.00 through £1,150.00

2024

I never like to shoot from a position that is elevated compared to my subject – animals are beautiful, why should we ever look down on them? But with the grey seals of Norfolk it is unavoidable during breeding season, getting too close risks pups being abandoned, and I am not willing to take that risk for the sake of a photograph.

I have worked this location for the last three years, and I know the dunes enough to know that their are dips in the sand that allow the photographer to maintain a safe and comfortable distance for all involved, but also enable the resulting photograph to feel more intimate, all without setting foot on the beach itself.

When I perch myself in the dip, it is then about hunkering down and waiting for a moment. I think this is one of the most special moments I have witnessed from these dunes. After spending considerable time crouched down, my ankles were aching, but it was all worth it, and I will re-visit these dunes in 2025, that is a certainty.
