Wild & Whiskered
£250.00 – £1,150.00Price range: £250.00 through £1,150.002025
I have been fortunate to photograph many species during my career, but the cheetah, which has always featured high on my subject wish list, had always eluded me, until late 2024 when I had a very special opportunity to work with the species for the first time. In my opinion, they are one of the most graceful, beautiful creatures to roam our planet, and I felt the pressure to do their beauty justice.
As well as being one of the most beautiful creatures, they are also incredibly sensitive and fine-tuned into their environment. Move too quickly and you’ll photograph nothing more than their back-end disappearing into the distance at up to 70mph! Photographing them requires patience and carefully thought out behaviour.
It’s impossible to ignore their eyes, they have an intense gaze—sharp, calculating, wild and almost otherworldly. That was what it was all about for me – capturing the intense emotion and depth in those large eyes, and the iconic tear-drop that falls from them.
Silent Serenity
£250.00 – £1,150.00Price range: £250.00 through £1,150.002024
The horse project taught me many things, about myself, about horses, and about photography. One of the key takeaways for me was that there are always new ways to see animals, and new photographs to make, and this has led to reinvigorated passion for my flamingo series.
I first photographed these birds about seven years ago, for what was originally a one-year project. Here I am, about to enter 2025, still adding to the series, and with no plans to stop anytime soon.
I love this frame – it has a such a peaceful feeling to it. They can be feisty subjects, but there is a silent serenity when they settle down, on one leg, for a well-earned sleep.
Sands Of Time
£250.00 – £1,150.00Price range: £250.00 through £1,150.002024
In my many years of working with the world’s wildlife, I have always been fascinated by the incredible colours, patterns and textures found in our natural world. Everywhere you look, there is something so incredibly beautiful.
When I was sat atop the coastal dunes of Norfolk in December, I was drawn to a couple of mothers whose faces were covered in sand, it’s a texture I’ve never photographed before. I dedicated a decent amount of time to these two cows – it’s difficult to get an angle on those dunes, and then you have to wait for the animal to give you an opportunity.
I think ‘Sands Of Time’ is the perfect title for this multi-generational portrait.
A Kiss On The Coast
£250.00 – £1,150.00Price range: £250.00 through £1,150.002024
I never like to shoot from a position that is elevated compared to my subject – animals are beautiful, why should we ever look down on them? But with the grey seals of Norfolk it is unavoidable during breeding season, getting too close risks pups being abandoned, and I am not willing to take that risk for the sake of a photograph.
I have worked this location for the last three years, and I know the dunes enough to know that their are dips in the sand that allow the photographer to maintain a safe and comfortable distance for all involved, but also enable the resulting photograph to feel more intimate, all without setting foot on the beach itself.
When I perch myself in the dip, it is then about hunkering down and waiting for a moment. I think this is one of the most special moments I have witnessed from these dunes. After spending considerable time crouched down, my ankles were aching, but it was all worth it, and I will re-visit these dunes in 2025, that is a certainty.
The Seals & The Seagull
£250.00 – £1,150.00Price range: £250.00 through £1,150.002024
Every year something very special happens on the sandy beaches of Norfolk between November and the end of January – large colonies of grey seals haul themselves onto the sand for pupping season, giving birth to thousands of beautiful fluffy pups. In my opinion, to stand upon the coastal sand dunes, looking down at the miles of sandy expanse that play host to a mosaic of new life, and new families, is one of the most beautiful sights in all of nature, and a great privilege.
2024 marks my third consecutive year working with these incredible creatures. Getting close is not an option – these creatures will defend their territory and their pups with great vigour, and I have no desire to make any living creature feel any unease – I am never and will never be within 25metres of these creatures – their happiness must always come before my desire to leave with a photograph.
It is one of the toughest trips of the year, and it becomes more and more challenging with each passing year. You always hope for some drama in the sky, some large seals to fill the frame, and a little something extra special – I have long hoped for a seagull to fly over, but the odds are slim, and it isn’t easy laying in the sand, 25metres from your subject, exposed to the East Anglian winds, preying for a seagull to appear! On attempt number three, we got there.
It’s shoots like this that push you and your cameras the extra mile. I am grateful to Nikon for their incredible cameras and lenses – without world-class equipment it would be a challenge to photograph these creatures, in these conditions, and from this distance. I will be back next year.
I’ll Think About It
£250.00 – £1,150.00Price range: £250.00 through £1,150.002024
This photograph very much encompasses my signature style — I like to make the eyes front and centre of my work, and I often use strong, dark backgrounds to focus the eye.
I am an emotional person, and I think that shows in my work — photography has become my outlet for the challenges I face living with autism.
I like that the lemur in the background is looking at the lemur in the foreground, and he is then looking into the distance – it leaves questions unanswered – what are they contemplating? What’s in the distance?
Land Of The Lemurs (Black & White)
£250.00 – £1,150.00Price range: £250.00 through £1,150.002024
‘Land Of Lemurs’ is one of my favourite photographs that I’ve taken in 2024 thus far. It is a composition I have long dreamed of, I sketched out a similar composition three years ago and have been trying to capture it ever since.
When I found these three hanging out, I knew I probably had my chance if I waited long enough. The left and the right lemurs were the easy part, and the beautiful trees in the distance made for the perfect backdrop, I just had to wait a while for the central individual to move forward so as to create the distance I wanted between him and the two others.
Lemurs are very sociable and inquisitive, so he was very obliging when it came to looking into the camera — he means business, this is the land of lemurs.

Light Of The Setting Sun
£250.00 – £1,150.00Price range: £250.00 through £1,150.002023
A favourite from Alfie’s Wild Horses project.
