A Bond So Strong
£250.00 – £1,150.00Price range: £250.00 through £1,150.002024
This is perhaps one of my favourite flamingo photographs from the last seven years of my career. Flamingos often form breeding pairs that last a lifetime, and are also known to form close friendships that have been known to last for fifty years – I wanted a single frame that spoke of those most special bonds.
I am grateful to have had the privilege to spend considerable time with this flock – it was a very humbling experience.
Flamboyance
£250.00 – £1,150.00Price range: £250.00 through £1,150.002024
Whenever I photograph flamingos, I always find myself smiling at their sudden outbursts of energy. When one calls, they all call, and it results in this beautiful scene full of displaying flamingos holding their heads proud.
I knew a photograph of this mesmerising display was missing from my collection, and so when I had the opportunity to work with the incredibly vivid Caribbean species recently I knew I had my chance to capture a flamboyance of flamingo in full voice.
Love Is The Aim
£250.00 – £1,150.00Price range: £250.00 through £1,150.002024
This photograph has been on my wish-list for well over seven years – I remember sketching it out in my old bedroom, dreaming of the moment I would finally turn it into a photograph, totally unaware that it would be another 2555 days until that dream became reality.
I have worked with these birds extensively over the past five years, and despite working on creating different photographs of these birds, this one has always been in the back of my head at every single shoot – it was one of those shots that I just wasn’t willing to give-up on.
I came close with ‘Heart Of The Flock’ but I felt there were too many other distractions in the final image. I like this attempt, the focus is solely on the two birds, and the colour of the Caribbean species works perfectly with the message behind the photograph. Love is the aim.
Crimson
£250.00 – £1,150.00Price range: £250.00 through £1,150.002024
It has been so wonderful to work again with flamingo recently, this time with the Caribbean flamingo whose feathers are amongst the brightest of the six species.
When I saw scouted the location I noticed a large tree on the edge of the lake that this flock called home, and I immediately saw an amazing opportunity to show off their beauty against the dark, textured beauty of the trunk.
I returned the next day to attempt to capture the image — I crouched beside the lake for most of the day, until everything came together at the last minute. My legs ached that evening, but I was pleased to have secured the photograph. I love the texture of the trunk, it’s equally as beautiful as the flamingo that stands proudly in front.
